What we do

From the road to the back boundary

Six disciplines, and we do all of them ourselves. So if a job needs two or three of them, they get planned and built together rather than handed between trades.

  1. The whole of it

    Garden Design & Landscaping

Where the levels sit, where the water goes and how a machine gets in: three decisions taken in the first week that set the price of the next three months.

    The finished garden

A finished limestone terrace running the length of a garden, with a clipped hedge along one side and lawn and mature trees beyond.

    The plan

One garden, considered as a whole.

  2. Off the road

    Driveways & Paths

Permeable as standard, on a sub base that takes the weight of a car rather than the weight of a garden chair.

    The finished drive

A bespoke mitred corner in pale stone paving, where two paving runs meet at an angle against the house

    Under the surface

The finish is only the top layer.

  3. Against the house

    Patios & Paving

A full mortar bed, and the falls set to carry water away from the house rather than towards it.

    The finished terrace

Pale stone steps up to a front door, edged in brick with a pebble border either side

    How it is built

    What sits beneath the surface.

  4. Up to the garden

    Stonework & Walls

Drainage behind the wall and a footing under it, so the ground it is holding back has somewhere to send its water.

    The finished wall

A retaining wall being built up in stacked stone, with drainage and backfill visible behind the coping already laid

    Cut through it

Built with the ground, not against it.

  5. On the top lawn

    Bespoke Garden Features

Pergolas, raised beds and terracing, built to the same standard as the ground they are standing on.

    The finished feature

A raised paved patio with a dry-stone-effect retaining wall, built as an outdoor dining and cooking space off the lawn

    How it goes together

Designed into the garden, not added to it.

  6. The back boundary

    Fencing & Gates

A fence fails where the timber meets the ground and almost nowhere else, so that is the part we spend the money on.

    The finished run

A tall featheredge fence enclosing a garden, with a mulched border, a garden shed and more fencing visible beyond

    Below the ground

    Strength begins below ground.

Not sure which you need

That was one garden

All six of those were one property. Some projects involve one of these. Others bring several together. Either way, it is one team and one person to ask. Tell us roughly what you have in mind and we will work out what the job involves when we come and look.
